All participants are required to take the ALS placement test prior to entering the class. The test allows for the placement of students to the appropriate level of study and gives valuable information to the course instructor regarding the language to be stressed.
The ALS placement test is a structured and graded test made up of two sections. Section one tests listening comprehension ability, and section two test knowledge of structure and grammar. It is scored from 0-100%. It is suggested that students with more than a 20% variance in score should be assigned to different levels of the program.
